What is the meaning of  fuel economy..?

According to Wikipedia, the fuel economy of vehicles is the amount of fuel required to move a certain distance from the vehicle. Is usually measured by the unit of distance, that is, the fuel used to travel 100 km in the number of liters of fuel quantity.
